Year 5 Enterprise Challenge at Vita et Pax Preparatory School
At Vita et Pax Preparatory School in Enfield, North London, Year 5 students recently participated in an exciting and hands-on Enterprise Challenge. The challenge was designed to inspire teamwork, creativity, and entrepreneurial thinking as students were tasked with turning a £20 investment into a profitable venture. The ultimate goal? To fund a class trip while learning valuable life skills along the way.
Working together, the Year 5 students created their own business plan, which involved marketing, budgeting, and sales. They had to think strategically about how to make the most of their £20, keeping in mind ethical, healthy, and environmentally friendly practices. The students were encouraged to use sustainable and thoughtful approaches in the products they chose to sell. The range of items available included keyrings, fidget accessories, trading cards, Boba tea, fluffy socks, hair ties, and stationery. These items not only sparked creativity but also catered to a wide range of interests within their school community.
The challenge wasn’t just about making money; it was about developing key skills like teamwork, communication, and problem-solving. Students worked collaboratively to set up their sales pitches, determine pricing, and organise marketing strategies. They also had to stay within budget while ensuring their products were ethically sourced and health-conscious.
By the end of the challenge, the students had not only raised enough funds to cover their upcoming class trip but also gained confidence in their ability to make sound business decisions. It was a fantastic opportunity to apply classroom knowledge to real-world situations, and the experience was a great way to demonstrate the importance of responsible entrepreneurship.
At Vita et Pax Preparatory School, we believe that challenges like this one play a crucial role in helping our students develop both academically and personally. We are proud of how our Year 5 students came together to achieve success in such an innovative and engaging way, setting a positive example for the rest of the school.
