In our Nursery the children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). The children are learning to develop the foundations of their learning. Independence and confidence are key skills that the children develop in our Nursery.
The curriculum is topic based and planned around each individual child’s interests through carefully planned focus weeks which evolve around planning for the children’s next steps. The children learn through a challenging yet playful approach whereby they are nurtured by their key workers alongside the class teacher.
Parent partnerships are crucial in supporting children in reaching their developmental milestones in Early Years and home wow moments from home are celebrated in school in the same way as school achievements. We seek to build strong and effective relationships with parents to support transition of the children into our Nursery.
The children have free flow indoor and outdoor play to enhance their characteristics of effective learning. Letters and Sounds is taught throughout Nursery to equip children with the necessary pre-reading skills when moving into Reception. Early Mathematical skills are developed through the implementation of Numicon in Nursery.
The children are also taught weekly Spanish, Music and PE by specialist teachers
