Vita Et Pax Preparatory School

Reception

Children learn through an inspiring, yet playful approach and care and nurture continue to be at the heart of this learning. Parent partnerships continue to be vital in supporting the development of each child. Reception children learn phonics and early language skills to enable them to become confident early readers who can discuss and respond to the text they are reading.

They are taught number skills using Numicon while learning to manage friendships, conquer difficulties, take risks and embrace challenge. The development of fine and gross motor skills are crucial in supporting children’s development at this age and so creative arts and design as well as P.E, music, and role play underspin this learning. The children are all working towards achieving a Good Level of Development (GLD) from the Early Years Foundation Stage Profile (EYFSP) to enable them to be Year 1 ready for the demands of the National Curriculum.
