What to expect

Our pupils

Boys and girls aged 2 to 11, from Nursery through to Year 6. Curious, courteous and eager to learn.

Our curriculum

A broad, traditional curriculum enriched by specialist teaching in French, music, PE, art and computing.

Our setting

A historic Catholic foundation open to families of all faiths and none, serving Southgate, Enfield and the surrounding area.

Our team

Qualified teachers, teaching assistants, administrative and support staff, working together with shared purpose.

Safeguarding & Safer Recruitment

Vita et Pax Preparatory School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment.

Our recruitment procedures follow statutory guidance, including Keeping Children Safe in Education, and the requirements of the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI). All appointments are subject to:

  • Satisfactory enhanced DBS clearance, including a barred list check for regulated activity.
  • At least two professional references, taken up prior to interview where possible.
  • Verification of identity, right to work in the UK and qualifications.
  • Prohibition from teaching and, where relevant, prohibition from management checks.
  • A full employment history with satisfactory explanations for any gaps.
  • Pre-appointment medical fitness and suitability declarations.

Successful candidates will be asked to complete a self-declaration form and to confirm that they are not disqualified from working with children. Shortlisted candidates should be prepared to discuss any relevant information revealed by pre-employment checks at interview.

We use a standard application form rather than CVs alone. This ensures we collect the information required under safer recruitment guidance.

Shortlisting and interview

Shortlisted candidates are invited to the school for interview, typically including a teaching task or practical exercise relevant to the role.

Pre-employment checks

All appointments are subject to satisfactory references, enhanced DBS clearance, identity and right-to-work checks, and verification of qualifications.
