Some exciting news from EYFS!
Vita et Pax has been invited to participate in the National Literacy Trust’s new initiative for Early Years children entitled Early Words and Literacy. The aim of the programme is to work with parents to encourage imaginative play, conversation and story telling. During our first session we looked at the book ‘Not a Box’ by Antoinette Portis and children then worked with their parents to make their own ‘not a box’! We were able to share some great transformations from our humble boxes; including a dragon, a modern dinosaur, a flying rabbit and a magical pillow! The children were then encouraged to explain their creations as a starting point for story telling. The programme will run for 6 weeks and next week’s session will be focused on rhymes to extend children’s talk, so we’re all looking forward to that.
