Pre Prep 4-7

The Vita et Pax Pre-Prep caters to children from the ages of 4 to 7. Our Pre-Prep starts in Reception where the children follow the Early Years Foundation Stage set stands for learning, development and care. The children are taught through a range of child-initiated activities and formal structed lessons.

The areas of learning are:

  • Communication and Language
  • Physical Development
  • Personal, Social and Emotional development
  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding of the World
  • Expressive Arts and Design

The children are also introduced to the Year One national curriculum to prepare them for their future school year. They are introduced to Inspire Maths and begin to learn new concepts using a concrete- pictorial- abstract approach.

In Years 1 and 2, the Inspire Mathematics scheme is continued to ensure secure foundations and deep understanding of mathematical concepts are achieved. High-quality pupil textbooks introduce concepts in a highly scaffolded way, enabling all children to become assured mathematicians.

English in our Pre-Prep is taught using a core text approach. This offers our pupils a range of high-quality literature, across a broad range of genres. English skills, such as comprehension, grammar, punctuation and creative writing are then linked to the text to deliver a creative and engaging learning platform that is rich in literacy.
