students on a school trip in London

Year 3 and 4 Trip to London

Posted: 6th March 2024

On Tuesday 5th March 2024 children from classes 3 and 4 from Vita et Pax Prep School had a fun and educational day out in London. We travelled by underground from Oakwood Station in North London to Westminster Station.

Walking past iconic London Landmarks we arrived at Shrek’s Adventure. Our journey began on a flying bus driven by Donkey himself, we are attacked by Rumpelstiltskin and forced to land in the dark forest. There to help us was Cinderella, from there we met a fortune teller, Pinocchio, Sleeping Beauty, The Gingerbread Man and the Muffin who guided us to safety. Unfortunately, the evil Rumpelstiltskin trapped us and we needed to be rescued by Princess Fiona and Shrek!

That was hungry work, so  we settled in to have our lunch and then we attended a story telling workshop. We sequenced the events of the journey we had just been on, looked at different parts of a story and re-enacted some of the characters that we met. We used our body language, facial expressions and voices to do this.

As a class, we carried out a character Meet-and-Greet, in which we met everyone’s different characters!
We had to try to get in-role as that character. Thinking  about how our character might walk, talk and behave.
We discussed who was our favourite and why.

On the way home we took in the lovely sights of London and couldn’t resist posing for a picture or two.
