TCS Mini London Marathon

On Saturday 20th April children from Prep and Pre Prep at Vita et Pax Preparatory School in Southgate participated in The Mini London Marathon. We met in Horse Guards Parade in Central London where the event started, surrounded by thousands of excited children the atmosphere was electric. We were in wave 32, children were dropped off to their starting point where they got to do a warm up with Joe Wicks (The Body Coach, P.E with Joe) before being escorted to the starting line. Excited parents made a dash across the St James’ park to get to the finish line before our speedy runners. All our runners finished the mile in under 12 minutes (results link), with the fastest at an incredible 7 minutes and 30 seconds.  The epic one mile race started at Horse Guards Parade, carried on along Bird Cage Walk, past Buckingham Palace, around Constitution Hill and finishing off down The Mall.

Every participant aged 17 or under who finished the TCS Mini London Marathon, TCS the sponsored for The London Marathon will donate £10 to our school to spend on PE or IT equipment.

The TCS Mini London Marathon is all about inspiring children and young people of all ages and abilities to be physically active. Regular exercise has a positive impact on children’s physical health and mental wellbeing and can help start a habit that stays with them for the rest of their lives. Everyone feels happier after they’ve been for a run!

Congratulations to everyone who took part.
