Year 6 Students Visit Christ the King Toddler Playgroup

Today, a group of our Year 6 students from Vita et Pax Preparatory School had the wonderful opportunity to visit the toddler playgroup at Christ the King Church in Cockfosters, North London. Accompanied by our headteacher, Mrs. Lynch, the children engaged in nurturing activities with the babies and toddlers in the group, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere for the little ones. This visit was a perfect example of our school’s commitment to nurturing both academic and emotional growth, as our students learned to connect with younger children through play and care.

Our Year 6 students demonstrated incredible care and kindness as they interacted with the toddlers, playing with them, reading them stories, and even singing popular nursery rhymes. It was heartwarming to see our older students, who are typically seen as role models in the classroom, step into a leadership role with the younger children. The students helped foster a supportive and engaging environment for the toddlers, showcasing their maturity and understanding of how to create positive experiences for others.

The event highlighted the sense of community that we strive to build here at Vita et Pax. As a school based in Enfield, we are dedicated to forming strong connections with the local area, and today’s visit to Christ the King Church was a wonderful example of that commitment. The partnership between our school and the local church fosters a spirit of collaboration and kindness, benefiting both the children at our school and those in the wider community.

Not only was this visit enjoyable for the toddlers and our Year 6 students, but it also offered a valuable learning experience for our children. They had the chance to practice empathy and patience, while also understanding the joy that comes from giving back to the community. These moments of interaction help develop essential life skills such as communication, cooperation, and leadership.

We extend our thanks to the staff at Christ the King Church for welcoming us and making the visit possible, and to our Year 6 students for their enthusiasm, positive attitudes, and commitment to making a difference. This event is a fantastic example of how nurturing community ties and contributing to local initiatives can enrich both our students’ education and the wider community. We look forward to more opportunities for our children to participate in such meaningful experiences in the future, continuing to strengthen the bonds within our school and the surrounding community.
