Year 6 Visits Christ the King Church’s BT Club for St David’s Day Celebration

On Friday, 28th February, Year 6 students from Vita et Pax Prep School in Enfield, North London, had the delightful opportunity to visit Christ the King Church’s BT Club, a Being Together club designed to foster community connections for parishioners. The occasion was a special St David’s Day celebration, and it turned out to be a memorable experience for everyone involved.

The event was a wonderful blend of cultural appreciation and community spirit. A guest speaker was invited to share insightful words with the parishioners, providing a meaningful and enriching experience for all. The children were treated to beautiful Welsh music, including songs from the renowned Welsh singer Catherine Jenkins. The music set a lovely atmosphere, transporting everyone to the heart of Wales for a moment of celebration.

One of the highlights of the day was the opportunity to enjoy traditional Welsh cakes and squash, a new experience for many of the children. It was an exciting chance for them to immerse themselves in Welsh culture. But the surprises didn’t stop there—the children were also fortunate to indulge in delicious chocolate cake in celebration of one parishioner’s 90th birthday, adding a personal and joyful touch to the occasion.

Throughout the visit, the Year 6 students had the chance to engage with the parishioners, asking questions and sharing stories. It was heartwarming to see the children connect with the local community in Enfield, strengthening the bond between our private school and the people around us. The interactions allowed the students to gain a deeper understanding of the church’s role in the local area and appreciate the importance of tradition and celebration.

The children thoroughly enjoyed the day and are already looking forward to returning for future visits. This visit to Christ the King Church’s BT Club provided our students with a unique opportunity to experience different cultural traditions while also fostering kindness, respect, and community engagement. We are grateful to the BT Club for hosting us and making the St David’s Day celebration such a special event. It was a fantastic day that left the children with lasting memories and a renewed sense of connection to the wider community.
