Celebrating Historical Excellence at Vita et Pax Preparatory School
At Vita et Pax Preparatory School in Enfield, we are proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our budding historians who recently took part in the prestigious 2025 Ampleforth College National Junior History Essay Competition.
With over 200 entries from 25 schools across the UK, the competition showcased an exceptional standard of historical research and writing. We are thrilled that our students from Years 5 and 6 rose to the challenge and contributed to such a competitive and inspiring national event.
We are very proud of all our entrants, who demonstrated critical thinking, curiosity, and creativity in their chosen topics — ranging from the Battle of Britain and the Reformation to the Civil Rights Movement and other pivotal moments in world history. Their essays reflected both strong academic skills and a genuine passion for learning.
A special mention goes to Eliora Ruby, who achieved a remarkable victory by winning the Year 5 category. Her essay stood out for its clarity, depth, and thoughtful analysis — an extraordinary accomplishment at this level. Well done, Eliora!
Paul Connor, Head of History at Ampleforth College, praised this year’s submissions as “truly outstanding,” noting that many entries reached GCSE and even A Level standards — an impressive feat for primary school pupils.
As a north London independent prep school deeply rooted in family values, we remain committed to nurturing potential and creating a learning environment where every child is encouraged to explore their interests, think critically, and express themselves with confidence. Our location in the vibrant north of the capital allows us to connect with a rich cultural and academic landscape that further enriches our students’ educational journey.
We believe in the power of history to inform, inspire, and connect generations. Congratulations once again to all of our young historians — your work has made the entire Vita et Pax community incredibly proud.
