Learn some Mandarin with Class 6!

Class 6 have begun their weekly Mandarin lessons. The lesson is split in two – half of the time is spent completing online lessons and unlocking achievements; the rest of the time is with a Mandarin teacher on Zoom. We were put into groups and taught the basics of Mandarin. We learnt about the country that mandarin originated in, the culture and the capital city which is Beijing. We also discovered how to say ‘I’m very good’ and ‘I’m very tired’, as well as ‘hello’ and ‘how are you?’. It was very enjoyable to speak Mandarin and we are looking forward to our next session!

Here are some basic Mandarin words/phrases and their meanings:

  • Nǐ hǎo= Hello
  • Nǐ hǎo ma? = How are you?
  • Wǒ hen hǎo = I’m very good
  • Wǒ hen lei = I’m very tired
  • Ni ne = How about you?
  • Yi = One
  • Er = Two
  • San = Three
  • Si = Four
  • Wu = Five
