What ages do you accept at Vita et Pax Nursery?

We welcome children from 2 to 5 years old, supporting them through their early learning journey and preparing them for a confident transition into Reception, to Vita et Pax Preparatory School.

What are your nursery hours?

Our nursery operates from 8:00 am to 3:30 pm, Monday to Friday, during term time.

We also offer extended care from 7:45 am to 5:30 pm for families who need additional flexibility.

Do you offer full-time and part-time places?

Yes. Families can choose full-time, part-time, or flexible sessional attendance to suit their needs.

Do you accept free government-funded childcare?

Yes, we do. Vita et Pax Nursery proudly offers access to government-funded childcare:

  • 15 hours of free childcare for all 3- and 4-year-olds
  • 30 hours of free childcare per week for eligible working families
  • 15 hours of free childcare for eligible 2-year-olds, depending on household circumstances

Our team is happy to guide parents through the application process and help determine eligibility. Funded hours can be used during term time and combined with additional paid hours.

What is your staff-to-child ratio?

We maintain adult-to-child ratios that meet or exceed statutory requirements:

  • Ages 2–3: 1 adult to 4 children
  • Ages 3–5: 1 adult to 8 children

This ensures each child receives individual attention and high-quality care.

What curriculum do you follow?

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which encourages children to learn through play, exploration, and creativity.

Our teaching also reflects the Catholic ethos of Vita et Pax, promoting kindness, respect, and a love of learning.

How do you support children’s individual needs?

Each child is unique. Our experienced sta􏰀 observe and assess progress regularly, planning tailored activities to support every stage of development. We also work closely with parents and outside professionals when additional support is required.

Is lunch provided?

Yes. We provide freshly prepared, nutritious meals and snacks daily. All dietary requirements, allergies, and cultural preferences are carefully accommodated.

What does a typical day look like?

A day at Vita et Pax Nursery, includes:

  • Morning welcome and circle time
  • Free play and structured learning
  • Outdoor exploration and physical activities
  • Creative arts, music, and story sessions
  • Quiet time and reflection

How do you communicate with parents?

We maintain open communication through:

  • Daily handovers and updates
  • Our online learning journal with photos and progress notes
  • Parent meetings, newsletters, and open days

Do children need to be toilet-trained?

No. We support children at all stages of toileting and work closely with parents to promote independence when each child is ready.

Is there a uniform?

Yes, we have a simple, practical uniform that encourages a sense of belonging and is suitable for play and exploration. Details are provided upon enrolment.

Is faith-based curriculum part of the Vita et Pax Nursery?

Yes. As part of Vita et Pax Catholic School, our nursery gently introduces children to Christian values such as love, compassion, gratitude, and respect through daily routines, celebrations, and stories.

How do I apply for a nursery place?

You can apply by completing our Nursery Registration Form (available on our website or from the school o􏰀ice). We recommend applying early as places are limited, especially for government-funded sessions.

Can we arrange a visit?

We invite families to book a tour to meet the nursery team, see our learning spaces, and experience our nurturing nursery environment in action.
